Kurikulum dirancang dengan jumlah total 42 sks, yaitu 32 sks untuk perkuliahan kelas (tatap muka) dan 8 sks untuk penyusunan tugas akhir (Tesis). Lama studi 15 bulan, 3 trimester (catur wulan) untuk perkuliah kelas, dan 1 trimester (3 bulan) untuk penyusunan thesis. Gelar yang diperoleh dari Program MPSA adalah Magister Teknik (M.T.). Kegiatan belajar mengajar dilaksanakan lima hari dalam seminggu, terdiri dari kuliah, diskusi kelompok, kerja laboratorium, tugas perorangan, tugas kelompok, seminar, studi lapangan, dan lain-lain. Khusus untuk studi lapangan dan studi kasus, telah dijalin kerjasama dengan instansi pengelola sumberdaya air yang ada, dan dimungkinkan penyelenggaraan studi lapangan di lokasi proyek dalam dan luar negeri. Bagi peserta yang telah menyelesaikan 20 sks dapat mulai melaksanakan penelitian untuk persiapan penulisan thesis, sehingga peserta dimungkinkan dapat menyelesaikan pendidikan MPSA kurang dari 15 bulan.
